Some Success Stories
After completion of Skill courses students of Setu are placed into jobs leading to them ensuring a livelihood and also help raise the living standard of their families. The IT students got jobs at entry level like, computer operator, tele caller, data entry operator, computer teacher etc., while the Heath care students in Hospitals and Homes. Tailoring and Beauty and wellness students generally look at self-employment.
Rekha is married to a vegetable supplier and has two children’s. Not very literate but does have the courage & dream of being self dependent and live a good life.
Bilasi
is from Bengal. She is married and stays with her husband in Nithari, Noida. She is 10th pass. She was working as maid before joining the IT course. She is hard working and has interest in learning more. Her husband who is a labourer sent Bilasi to the IT centre when he learnt about the Skill course. She completed her course with full dedication.Her personality has changed a lot. Slowly and gradually she started mingling with the group and participated in group activities. She has come up with a changed personality. She is now more confident and independent. This is her first job after doing the course. She is happy with her job though she wants to grow higher in her life.
Mamta is working as data entry operator at OKS Health Care. She has good communication skills. She feels more confident after doing the IT course. Mamta has done 12th from CBSE Board and now pursuing graduation. Her father is a driver. There are five members in the family. Mamta wants to support her father. When she joined the course she was very keen in getting a job. Her confidence level has increased. She says she has learnt computer and soft skills along with communication skills. She is very much satisfied with the course. This is her first job. She wants to do a lot in her life. She wants to improve her standard of living. Shiv
ani is 18 years old. She is class 12th pass. She is staying with her mother and younger brother who is in Class 8. Her father doesn’t stay with them. Her mother works in a local school with an income of only Rs 3000/- a month. Her mother is not able to support her higher education so she approached the Metlife sponsored Setu Skill Centre at Village Sadarpur to do the IT course which she joined in June 2016 with the motive of helping her mother in running the family as well as to continue her higher studies. After completing the course she was placed as a Customer Service Assistant at Delhi Airport Parking Service P Ltd. She is drawing a salary of over Rs 15000/- . She works only 4 days a week in different shifts. Her positive approach and her dedication during the course and placement process has been instrumental in her getting this job. This has helped transform her family as well as she is very happy and satisfied with her training imparted by Setu. Thank You Metlife!
Asha belongs to a very poor family, she always struggled in her life for improvement and betterment. Asha’s father is working in a private company as a clerk and her total family’s annual income was Rs. 80000/-per annum which is insufficient to fulfil the basic need of a family of 5. She wants to continue her education after 12th as well, but her family was not able to support her education due to financial conditions. She endeavoured to do a job and earn for her higher education as well as for improvement of her family’s condition however, it was impossible for her to find a good job without any technical knowledge and it was even harder to crack any interview without basic knowledge of English. So, she was not able to find a job after completing 12th. Then, she came to know about the STeP Program launched at Setu and its benefits for the under- served youths through our mobilisation. So she joined SteP course to fulfil her basic requirements of skills which is important for finding a good job. After successful completion of this course she grabbed a job of Computer Operator cum Billing Executive at JBM Electronics with a salary of Rs. 5500/month. Asha is very happy with her job as she becomes responsible after this job. Now she is able to help her father and support her own education as well as her siblings education.
